A Huge Loss

Paul Newman

One of my earliest childhood memories is of watching "The Hustler" in the White House. Or rather, being "hustled" out of the room with the other kids while the adults watched the movie.

Now my affection for him is tied up in this, where Bundle of Joy #3 has worked for the last two summers.

As important as he was as an artist, his work on behalf of children will be missed most.

My kids think I'M over-protective...

An oldie but a goodie. Some days you just get it right.

One day a man was walking on a beach when he saw another man coming the other way who appeared to be dancing. As he drew nearer he could see the man was not dancing but was gently picking up starfish from the beach and throwing them back into the sea.
"Why are you throwing starfish into the sea?" he asked.
"Because they have been washed ashore, the day is getting hot and if I do not throw them back they will die," replied the dancer.
The man looked around him and saw that the beach went on for miles and that there were many thousands of starfish along its length.
"But there are too many" he protested to the dancer "you can't possibly make a difference."
The dancer smiled, picked up another starfish and gently tossed it beyond the waves, back into the sea.

"I made a difference to that one." he said.

Quotes of the Day.

Just saying something doesn't make it so.

What's the biggest misconception about you?

"Oh gosh, there are so many! [laughs] That I'm not smart. I think I'm pretty smart, actually." -- Jessica Simpson (via http://www.theboot.com/2008/09/09/11-questions-with-jessica-simpson-no-1/?icid=100214839x1209507057x1200550337 )

Sarah Palin sidesteps questions about her national security experience and struggles with foreign policy questions in her first television interview since being named to the Republican ticket. But she says she's ready to take over as president if needed. (via http://news.aol.com/?feature=163723 )

Speaking of Pigs...

It's official. I AM old!

I was irritated when my husband joined AARP and put MY NAME ON THE MEMBERSHIP! But I guess I might as well face facts. I AM old.

How do I know?

Last night I turned on the VMAs, saw this guy, said, "WTF?" then changed the channel.

It is indeed the end of an era.
