Ouch!

Don't I feel like a wimp? Bundle of Joy #2 was 10 pounds, 11 ounces.

Proof of the existence of God.

Back to School

Yes, it's that time of the year when all our little darlings head back to the classroom.

So let me ask you this,

WHAT PART OF "SCHOOL ZONE, 25 MPH" DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?

Moron!

Having a word with Grammar

Since I know quite a few writers, some of whom actually read my blog, I have a grammar question that somebody, maybe even a newspaper editor or two, might know the answer to. No, it’s not about run-on sentences. Or prepositions. Or, even, commas,

My question is about the word “Coconspirator.” Wouldn’t the word “conspirator” cover it? Doesn’t conspirator, by virtue of its definition preclude the need for “co?”

This is fuzzy to me, kind of like, “reverse discrimination.” The REVERSE of discrimination is lack of discrimination or opposite of discrimination, therefore “reverse discrimination” doesn’t make sense.

And while we’re at it, what’s up with the phrase “He can s**k my d**k,” as a negative? My understanding is that the average (and even above average) male is quite fond of that particular activity. You would think someone who would be willing to do that would be most revered. It doesn’t make any more sense than, “He can bite me!” Well, now if he bit you, YOU would be the one hurt wouldn’t you? It makes no sense. What, exactly, does that mean?

Language is a powerful and beautiful thing when used wisely. Let’s strive to use it wisely. And if you don’t agree, well, you can awww…use your imagination.

Why I've got the coolest job ever!

I've just discovered that my building was on the list for incoming first-year students' scavenger hunt. What this means is that these darling children, fresh scrubbed, full of promise and hope and excitement, and all worried and nervous, are coming to find out what happens in my building.

Just when you look at the world and see the strife, pain, and injustice, just when you wonder if we can survive all the agony in the world, just when you've seen all the pictures of war you think you can take, in come these children. The world will be given over to them in the not-too-distant future.

We are going to be okay.

Starting all over again...

...I am in the process of revamping my blog. Being totally tech UNsavvy, I removed the other blog before I saved some important pieces.

Since the start of the semester is my busiest time, I've not gotten as far along with the reshaping as I'd hoped. I have gotten some ideas down so please look forward to:
  • A review of the August 12 Marc Broussard concert COMPLETE with pictures attesting to his fondness for fondling.
  • An introduction to the band who opened for him.
  • A discussion about writing processes across genres.

It will be a few days before I get to all of that as well as performing the other tasks like links.

Thanks for your patience.
